Diabetes mellitus (DM)

Diabetes mellitus (DM)

If you have diabetes mellitus, frequent check-ups are important in order to properly treat this condition. The check-up exam consists of blood sampling, a urine test, a fundus photo (a photo of your eye) and an examination of your feet (podometry).

Why do I need this exam?

Regular check-ups are important for the effective treatment of diabetes mellitus. Effective treatment reduces the risk of (severe) consequences of diabetes.

What will we do?

The Diabetes Service helps you and your general practitioner keep the disease under control. This means the Diabetes Service will regularly summon you for a check-up exam. Your general practitioner and nurse practitioner will determine how often you need a check-up exam. Your general practitioner will also determine which tests can be performed in their practice and for which tests you need to visit Diagnostiek voor U.

Duration of the exam

The fundus photo and the foot exam (podometry) together will take circa 25 minutes. Either exam by itself will take circa half as long.

How soon can you see me?

We want to help you as quickly as possible, which is why we keep the waiting times short at Diagnostiek voor U. Take a look at the current overview of waiting times for the various exams or read more about our waiting times on this page.
