Your physician wants to have your blood tested. You can schedule an appointment for a blood test at any of our locations.
Why do I need this exam?
Blood can provide important information about a person's health. Blood tests can be used to e.g. detect diseases, assess the severity of a disease, monitor the development of chronic conditions or determine whether a treatment is having the desired effect.
What will we do?
The employee who will be taking a sample of your blood will place a cuff around your upper arm. They will then place a needle in your arm and fill one or more vials with your blood. You may experience some pain. After sampling your blood, you will receive a small bandage that you can press against the wound. Doing this for about one minute will reduce the risk of subsequent bleeding or bruising. If a bruise does form in the area, it will go away after a few days. This is no cause for concern.
If you are uncomfortable with or afraid of having your blood sampled, be sure to inform the employee attending to you. They will then take a bit more time to put you at ease. Afterwards, you can sit down in the waiting room for a bit and have a glass of water.
Blood sampling locations
The list on the right shows an overview of the locations where you can go to have your blood sampled. You can go to community centres, nursing homes and care facilities in the area. Patients of the Catharina Hospital, Maxima Medical Centre and the anti-coagulation clinic Eindhoven can also visit these locations to have their blood sampled.
Duration of the exam
In general, it will take no more than five minutes to collect a sample of your blood. However, you may have to wait in the waiting room for a bit before you are called in.
The results
The results of your blood test will be available in a couple of days - often the very next day. We will send the results of your examination to your general practitioner. Schedule an appointment with your general practitioner or nurse practitioner to discuss your results. You can also check the results of your exam in the MijnDiagnostiekvoorU client portal. You are free to choose whether you want to look at your results before discussing them with your caregiver. It is possible that your healthcare provider has not yet received a full report because part of the results of your examination(s) are not yet available.
