Further use of human bodily material

Choice: your body material used for research

Sometimes a GP or one of our employees will take some bodily material from you for testing, for example, blood, urine or tissue. The bodily material is examined by Diagnostiek voor U. We can then use the remaining material for other purposes; this is called ‘further use of human bodily material’. The choice is yours; you can object to us using your remaining bodily material.

What does Diagnostiek voor U use residual body material for? And are there consequences to objecting? You will find the answers to all your questions in our flyer.

To object?

You can let the blood collection staff member know that you object when you hand in your body material or when your blood is taken. The blood collection staff member will then put a grey sticker on the body material so the laboratory knows you have objected to further use of your body material. You do not need to specify why you object.
